Don passed peacefully the morning of September 5th after a three year battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness, steady calmness, and quick sense of humor. Don had a love for his family & friends, his faith, football, golf, and a cold Coors Light.
Don attended the US Air Force Academy and served honorably as a KC-135 navigator. Following his service he had a 27 year career in surgical sales, most recently at the medical device company, Nevro.
He was born in Lynwood, California to Jake and Judy DeRuyter as the 4th of eight children. He lives on through his wife Shannon, son CJ, daughter Paige, his parents Jake and Judy DeRuyter, and siblings Tim DeRuyter, Mike DeRuyter, Linda Smith, Ted DeRuyter, Lori Provencio, and Matt DeRuyter. He was preceded in death by his brother, John DeRuyter.
Don’s positivity and resilience in the face of any obstacle is an inspiration and he brought so much joy and laughter to people’s lives. He made everybody better for knowing him.
