Zenaida Sutherland

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Zenaida “Sandy” Sutherland, lived an incredible life full of love and laughter. The daughter of Froilan Pla and Ada Sagrista Cano, Sandy was born in Havana, Cuba and spent the majority of her life between Miami and Los Angeles. She was a lover of travel, cuban food, salsa dancing, shopping and playing Rummikub. She had many hobbies, but her greatest joy was time spent with her family. Sandy touched the hearts of many with her vibrant spirit, kind soul and a wonderful sense of humor. Sandy had an unmistakable talent to warm up a room with her presence, a beautiful life that will be forever cherished and remembered by all who knew her.

Survived by her four beautiful daughters; Liz Hampshire (Scott), Laura Steenstra (Jack), Leslie Chavez (Robert) & Teri Groover (Brian); her sister Carmen Beattie (Little Mother); her ten grandchildren, Laura Bersuch (Kory), Jeffrey Busse, Ian Hampshire, Jacob Steenstra, Victoria Chavez, Marissa Steenstra, Noah Groover, Alex Chavez, Devin Groover & Amelia Groover; and her two great-grandchildren, Isabella Busse & Everly Bersuch.

A Catholic Mass will be held Monday, August 6th at 11am at St Anne’s Catholic Church in Seal Beach CA with a Celebration of Life immediately following. St Anne’s Catholic Church, 340 10th Street, Seal Beach, CA 90740.
