Vonnie was a meat and potatoes kind of gal from the Midwest and loved a good steak dinner, a drink or two, and Hersey chocolate bars. She often claimed that TV was one of her best friends and loved game shows like the Price is Right, old movies, and watching Kobe and the Lakers.
In her day, she was quite the dancer, and could be found having an early breakfast with friends after a full "night out" of dancing. She was still the life of the party in her 80's and loved a good time. She especially liked to visit her son Gino in Las Vegas to play the slots and was mostly lucky.
Vonnie also loved to play word games and cards and passed this love onto her children and grandchildren. She played a mean Gin Rummy and Scrabble.
Always with an artistic flair in decorating and dress, Vonnie recently found peace and joy in adult coloring books and produced mini master pieces that she shared with her loved ones. You wouldn't find a better friend and Vonnie sustained friendships all the way back to high school. In her later years she worked at Pathways and personally visited an older couple to help where she could. She was a kind person and was open and accepting.
We like to think of her in the morning in her soft fluffy robe, sipping coffee and eating toast with the crusts cut off, reading her paper, calm and at peace. There is so much more that we remember Mom. Know you are missed and loved. So sorry we never got you to Europe.
She is now at peace in her heavenly home.
She will be buried at Bethania Cemetery in Justice, Illinois next to her loving brother, Robert Hill Carlson, and her loving parents Pearl and Carl Carlson. Her service is planned for spring of 2017.
She will be truly missed!
