William Douglas Holt was born on March 1, 1947 in Evergreen Park , Illinois. Bill moved to California in 1965 and attended Wilson High and left before graduation to join the U.S Navy and served in Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, he completed his high school requirements at LBCC and received his diploma. From there he was hired by the LA County Sheriff’s Department as Main Jail Inmates Supervisor and Bailiff at the LA County Superior Court (1969-1976). After that, Bill spent thirty successful years in Retail Auto Sales in Long Beach, California. Bill was a dedicated and highly respected LBPD Senior Police Partner from December 2008 through August 2019. During his tenure he received a Commendation in 2011 with SPP Linda Penrod for helping folks out of a vehicle on the Blue Line railroad tracks saving them from a potentially fatal accident. On June 2018, Bill and fellow SPPs received the prestigious LBPD Unit Citation and in January 2019 the Unit received recognition for 10,000 volunteer hours donated in 2018.
