Wanda Mae McWaters, age 78, went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2020, surrounded by family in the comfort of her home.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband of fifty eight years, Marvin McWaters, and their four children Patricia Feenstra and Ron Feenstra, Deborah McWaters, Victoria Montero and her husband Mark Montero, Marvin McWaters Jr. and his wife Roseann McWaters.
Wanda is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Jamie Feenstra; Jessica Feenstra; Ronald Feenstra Jr; Matthew Mc Waters and his fiancé Jeni Foster; Michelle Montero; Justine Montero; Jonathan Montero; Joshua McWaters and his wife Samantha McWaters; Meghan McWaters; Sarah Hall and her husband Will Hall; Elizabeth McWaters. Her sister Ilene and her husband Ron Mahin from Nacona, TX.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Cassandra Taylor and James Taylor. Also by her brother David Bartell, who was married to Sandra lee Bartell both from Ladson, SC.
She was blessed with three great grandchildren; Tayvear Ross, Jack Strassburger and Michael McWaters.
Wanda was raised in Michigan by her mother Florence Irene Philbrick, who preceded her in death. Wanda moved to Oakland California, to finish high school and eventually met her husband Marvin who was stationed in the Navy. They were transferred to San Diego and after his discharge moved to San Pedro, eventually settling in Paramount California where she resided for forty three years.
Wanda worked as a teacher’s aide in the elementary school system for ten years. She also worked as a sales associate for Mervyn’s Department store. She dedicated thirteen years volunteering with Paramount Girls Softball league. Her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren.
Throughout her life Wanda battled many health conditions. She received a liver transplant in February 2007 blessing her with thirteen more years of life. She stayed strong throughout these difficulties and fought hard until the end.
Wanda was a member of Calvary Chapel Downey for over 35 years. She loved spending time with family and playing board games. Her hobby was looking up the family’s ancestry, tracing records back many years.
She will be remembered for the unconditional love and generosity she gave her family. She touched so many people and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
