Virginia (Ginger) Bardin Mayhew, born January 25, 1945, in Salinas, California passed away quietly and peacefully in her sleep August 24, 2022, in Long Beach, California following a lengthily illness. Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver C. Bardin and Mary Lucy Bardin of Salinas, California, and her brother, Robert H. Bardin, of Newport Beach, California. Ginger was an honors graduate of California State University, Long Beach with a BA in speech communication in 1984, and an honors graduate of California State University, Long Beach with an MA in speech communication in 1986. Ginger was an adjunct professor of speech communication at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California for 20 years. Ginger was a fun-loving girl whose motto was let the party begin and let’s dance. Ginger enjoyed traveling, visiting family and friends, going to lunch every week with her lunch bunch and playing bridge weekly with her bridge group. Ginger is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gary Mayhew of Long Beach, her son, Douglas Mayhew of Vernal, Utah, her daughter, Sharon Mayhew Saxton, of Kirkland, Washington, her granddaughter, Cassandra Saxton, of Nampa, Idaho, and four great-grandchildren, Emmett, Aaron, Alanna, and Ellie Pope, of Nampa, Idaho.
