Virginia Violette Cooper Profile Photo

Virginia Violette Cooper was born on February 7, 1940 in Crookston, MN to Frank and Emma Violette. She was the youngest of 16 children. She moved to California where she met and married Charles Cooper. They were happily married for 36 years when he passed in 1996. They had 4 children Steve, Diana, Chuck, and Jodi and 7 grandchildren Shane, Blaine, Kyle, Bryce, Sebastian, Riley, and Jorge Jr.

She was a nurse for many years. She began her nursing career working in the ER. She worked for Dr. Heart, then in a nursing home. She worked at Cigna for several years before retiring. She loved her job and loved helping her patients. Friends and family would always call on her for medical advice.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always there to support her children in all of their sports activities. She would always volunteer to help the teams. She had so much love for her grandchildren and would be there for them at the drop of a hat. Her grandchildren loved spending time with her.

Virginia loved spending time with extended family. We would take turns going to different family members’ homes to celebrate birthdays, holidays and just to be together. Family gatherings usually included a poker game.

She had an open-door policy. She welcomed anyone and everyone. Many of her nieces and nephews stayed with her for extended amounts of time. She always welcomed her children’s friends. They would come just to hang out. She loved having Chuck and his friends to play poker with. We had many late nights where she would make her egg salad sandwiches at 2 or 3 in the morning.

Virginia loved taking vacations with family and friends. She would take long trips to visit family. She also loved going camping with her children and friends. Virginia loved going to Las Vegas or local casinos.

Virginia always had a smile on her face. Her smile and kindness will be greatly missed. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She will be greatly missed by those she crossed paths with and the many hearts she touched.
