Born February 8, 1934 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the Cypress resident and navy veteran passed away peacefully on June 10, 2022. Vince graduated from Cathedral Preparatory Boys School in Erie, PA His years of service were with the United States Navy He was a member of the school board for ABC Unified School District 1969-77 Vince attended Long Beach City College; and later, attended UCLA then received his teaching certificate from Washtenaw College in Ann Arbor, Ml He was an instructor at the Apprentice & Journeyman Training Centers for 31 years. After a long career in the plumbing industry, he moved on to being a building inspector at Whittier and City of Cypress, CA for 15 years. He was a member of the board of directors of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials; and a longtime member of UPPA and Local 494. And, was a 60-year member of the United Association.b He was a member of the VFW and a proud member of the American Legion Post 295. Being an avid golfer, he played regularly at the Navy Golf Course, Cypress, CA; and across the country including Hawaii and Alaska. He even had a set of clubs stationed on the east coast and ready. He played the golf clubs in Pennsylvania with his favorite nephew, Dave, where all golfers called him "Uncle Vince". In addition to golf, Vince always enjoyed his travel adventures with Nancy. His daughter Martha and son in law Steve brought him great comfort. His bond with nieces Gwenn and Kelly was special to him. He would carry on long conversations with his Godson Luca, as the boy sat at his knee. Vince had a soft love for all dogs, especially his Teddy. He was devoted to his wife Nancy, who was his everything. Vince had a burly exterior, but in truth was the sweetest, kindest, and most gentle of a man .... he will be missed by so many, but remembered always. Vince is survived by his loving family including his beloved wife Nancy, daughter Martha (Steve) Steinberger, several nieces, nephews, and his Godson Luca Panarello. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28 from 3pm-7pm at the Mortuary. Vince was a member of St. Irenaeus Church for over 35 years. Since his church is under construction, his funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 29, 11am at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Los Alamitos. Burial is private but a reception will follow at the American Legion Post in Cypress.
