Vern was born in Denver and moved to Los Angeles when he was a
child. He graduated from Washington High School in 1954 and married
Margie in 1957, when he was 21 years old. They relocated the family
from LA to Seal Beach in 1967. Raised four sons, Richard, Bruce, Steve
and Ron. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in March
2023.
He worked in construction as a plasterer for over 60 years. He
earned a college degree from El Camino College in 1961. After he
retired, he took great pride in helping each of his sons remodel their
homes and complete home projects. He had the work ethic like no
other with pride in his work that showed.
He also attended many events - sports, Boy Scouts, Indian Guides,
school functions, etc, for 4 active boys. He also took the family on
many, many vacations to great places. He taught us how to water ski,
fish, surf, motorcycle ride and how to play baseball, soccer, basketball
and so much more.
He and Margie volunteered at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Los Alamitos for many years.
Starting in the early 70s. He also volunteered on many projects at the church, even helped plaster
many of the buildings.
He was a very proud Papa to seven grandchildren and two great grandsons.
Rest in peace Dad - Papa
You were a great grandfather and example to us all. Your unconditional love and friendship will
be remembered and cherished forever.
Great and faithful servant: your work here is done.
