Valorie Jean Newell, 63, of Providence, Rhode Island was called home May 12, 2015 in Lakewood, California. Valorie was born in Providence, Rhode Island to James McKeever Jr. and Margaret Worden on September 21, 1951. The McKeever family relocated to California in 1953 where they settled. Valorie grew up in Gardena, CA. with her mother, Margaret and step-father, Joseph Fagnant. She was a Girl Scout and attended St. Anthony's Grade School. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1969. In 1973, she married Conrad H. Newell and raised two daughters, Dona and Heather, in Long Beach, CA. She was a member of Intercity Fellowship for 26 years and an inspiration to all. Her love of music, poetry, art and nature are preserved in the hearts of those who remain. Valorie was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad H. Newell, her niece Love Leigh McKeever, and her parents, Margaret and Joseph Fagnant and James McKeever Jr. Valorie is survived by her daughters, Dona Salmeron of San Diego and Heather Farrell of Lakewood, her brother James McKeever III of Los Angeles and her four grandchildren, Jezica and Joshuah Salmeron and Taryn and Kyle Heffran. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Lakewood Regional Hospital for their compassion and care in her final days. Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Pancratius Catholic Church in Lakewood, CA at 9:00 AM May 23, 2015 with Msgr. Joseph Greeley officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. Funeral arrangements are being held by Luyben Dilday Mortuary.
