Susan Hafen passed away from complications due to lung cancer on Oct. 13. Susan was defined by her loving and caring personality, which is evidenced by the large network of friends and family she leaves behind. Susan was an avid duplicate bridge player who loved traveling to tournaments, and especially enjoyed tournaments held on board cruise ships. She was a proud Long Beach Poly grad and valued education above all else having taught middle and high school students in the Paramount Unified school district for 26 years, retiring in 1995 to spend more time with her family. She is survived by her husband Keith, son and daughter-in-law Chris and Kelsey, daughter Stephanie, and brother Ed Andrew. Her services will be private. Contributions in her memory can be made to the UCR Guardian Scholars Fund at guardianscholars.ucr.edu.
