Sheila A. McIntyre, born in Dixon, Nebraska in 1931, passed away November 15, 2014. Sheila is survived by her husband, James McIntyre and children Pam (Patrick) Kenneally, Michael (Lori) Probst, Katherine (Patrick) McGee, Claire (Bill) Sills, James Probst (Pam), Kathryn (Ray) McEuen, James (Nancy) McIntyre, Mary Ellen Defehr (Mike), 15 grandchildren, 1 sister Rosemarie Graham. Sheila was preceded in death by her first husband Louis Probst Jr. and grandson Billy Probst, brothers Michael, William and James Duffy, and 1 sister, Monica Bajema.
Services provided by Luyben Dilday Mortuary, 5161 Arbor Rd., Long Beach. Viewing 12pm to 2pm Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Mass at 10am Thursday, November 20th, 2014 at St. Maria Goretti and immediately following, burial at All Souls Cemetery, Long Beach, California. Please join us at The Knights of Columbus Hall in Bellflower for lunch.

Robert Probst, Christina Olson, Lisa Probst, Patrick Gunner McGee, Anthony Schiola, Cynthia Hill, Tina Bradley, Mathew Probst, Sarah Smith, Dustin and Noel Glasoe, Tracy Valiquette and Michael Brumbaugh. Great Grandchildren are Brogan, Ian and Declan and Jackson Kenneally, AJ, Damon, & Jacob Schiola, Haley Rose Hill, London Hill, Riley, Taylor, Lucas Olson, James Probst, Juliana Probst, Brantley Probst, Jennifer Humphrey, Kyle Roussel, Gemma Roussel, Candice DeFehr, Autumn, Brianna, Juliana Patrick, Adrian Martinez and Michael Valiquette and Deegan Glasoe and Gage Glasoe.
Sheila is a blessed woman, the youngest of 6 children. She was born in Nebraska and moved to California at age 12. She graduated from St. Anthony High School at age 15 and then attended Long Beach City College for 1 1/2 years. She worked for Pacific Telephone in Los Angeles for 1 year. Married at age 18, Sheila had her first child at 18 and bought her first house at 18. After 5 children, ages 10-17, Sheila was widowed at age 36. Seven years later she married James McIntyre in 1974, inheriting 3 stepchildren. She had two wonderful husbands.
Sheila was a founding member of St. Maria Goretti Parish, having served as a Eucharist Minister for 12 years, 8 years on the parish council, 11 years counting money and many years as publicity chairman. She was a founding member of the Regina's (1954-present). The Regina's gave scholarships to Catholic High Schools totaling well over $200,000.
Sheila traveled all 48 States in a motor home. She also traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Russia, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Italy. She volunteered as the Roving Reporter for the Anchor Light of the US Merchant Marine Veterans of World II and was their publicity and promotions Chairman. She was also chairman of the SS Lane Victory's celebration and party when the ship was designated as a National Historic Landmark. She was also chairman of the Program Book for this occasion. She wrote articles and submitted photos of the restoration of this World War II Cargo ship.
Sheila's main life was her husband, 8 children, 23 grandchildren and her great grandchildren, her Parish Family and her Regina Family. Her home was always open for any occasion.
