Shareine Olsen

Shareine Carter Olsen, of Long Beach, California, passed away peacefully at home after a three year battle against Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) on November 9, 2017. Sherry was born on September 14, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah.Sherry was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing the piano, both at home and for her church. Sherry was always an active member of the church and especially took pride in serving as the Relief Society President and the President of the California Utah Women’s Association. Sherry was a passionate seamstress, a skill she learned from her mother. She also loved to cook, garden, and travel to Hawaii on vacation.Sherry was preceded in death by her parents and sisters.Sherry is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dr. Ralph A. Olsen of Long Beach, Sons Rand (Dawn) Olsen of Kauai and David Olsen of Long Beach; Daughter Susan Olsen (Jim) Tinker of San Clemente. Grandchildren Danny (Laura) Holt, Taylor (Ira) Holt, Mallory Holt, Tyler (Emily) Olsen, Laurel Olsen, Chloe Olsen, Carter Olsen, Kayla Tinker & Malia Olsen; Great-Grandchildren Noah Holt, Jameson Holt & Marlo Holt.Services will be held at Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 3rd Ward in Long Beach on Saturday November 25, 2017 @ 10:00 am.The family would like to thank Luyben Dilday Mortuary for assisting us with the arrangements, along with Bishop Gravley and the 3rd Ward Relief Society.In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to make a donation to CurePSP.
