Born on February 25, 1971 in Manila Philippines, Rory Lacson began his journey through life. Rory was the second to the youngest child of Rizal Lacson and his wife Soledad Lacson. He never gets to meet the eldest sister Judith because she was stillborn. Rory has an older brother, Eric, a younger sister Marie and adopted cousin, Elsa who helped care for him when he was a baby. Rory was a cute and happy little boy with a very strong personality. He spoke his mind. He knew what he did and did not want. For instance, it is a Filipino tradition to kiss and hug relatives when you see them. This is to show respect. At the age of 5 years old, Rory just had to question this tradition for he didn’t like this gesture at all. He went straight to his parents and asked why. He just had to know why he had to do it. He attended elementary school and high school at Don Bosco Technical Institute, Makati, Philippines. He was part of a soccer team and a member of school choir. He was the apple of his teachers’ eyes and exceled in all of his classes. When he was in high school, he would do a lot of his school friends’ class projects in lieu of money. He used his intelligence to his advantage. At that young age, he was an entrepreneur. In May 1988, his whole family decided to migrate to America. Because of his knowledge and passion for cars, he worked at A and B Automotive for years. Rory always strive for a better life for him, his siblings and his parents that he decided to pursue a Nursing Degree at Harbor City College. Rory befriended an owner of a golf shop where he worked between classes. Rory loved to play golf; with his competitiveness he was able to attain a single digit handicap in golf. Another one of his hobby is running remote controlled cars where he won first place and was featured in a R/C magazine. Rory graduated from Nursing School in July 2006 and obtained his license the same year. Started working at Long Beach Memorial Hospital and Long Beach Community Hospital. He was loved and respected by his colleagues. Transitioned from clinical nurse to Clinical Application Specialist, which enabled him to be an EPIC certified. Long Beach Memorial Hospital is where Rory met his future spouse Hilda whom he adored in 2007. Rory and Hilda were inseparable and developed an unfathomable, loving relationship. Rory always looks at Hilda as his princess and calls her “babe.” In 2009, Rory and Hilda were blessed by a handsome baby boy and named him, Jayden Israel who looks exactly like Hilda but inherited Rory’s charisma and mannerism. Rory and Hilda are very hands on and enjoy being a parent to Jayden. Both parents would move mountains just to make him happy. Jayden is a very lucky boy. The following year, Rory and Hilda tied the knot in a private civil court surrounded by close families. In 2012, they purchased their first home in Lakewood. Rory’s life with Hilda, Jayden and family was filled with joy and contentment. He was a very happy man. In late 2014 he was diagnosed with Leukemia and battled the disease for over a year. On November 25, 2015, he succumbed to the disease and passed away peacefully. He is survived by his wife Hilda, son Jayden, his parents Rizal and Soledad, his siblings, Eric, Marie and Elsa.Luyben Dilday Mortuary (562) 425-6401www.luybendilday.com
