Ronald Michael Smith, 74, of Rossmoor, California, passed away peacefully on July 26th, 2016 at home. Born to Gordon and Geraldine Smith, he lived most of his life in Rossmoor with his amazing bride Pauletta Jean.

Ronald Michael Smith was known by most as Ronnie or Fast Ron and was considered one of the most unselfish, kind and caring men by those who knew him. He spent most of his days taking care of the home he shared with Pauletta. They were married 53 years and, even though it felt like a lifetime, it was not long enough. His main hobby was his yard. Many people would drive by and stop and ask who his gardener was, and he would humbly say “oh, I do my own yard.” He was quite proud of that. Ronnie also loved watching his race cars. Thank goodness cable came out with DVR’s!

Ronald was very proud of and loved his two daughters, Kimberly “Kimmer” Gulledage of Rancho Santa Margarita, and Dana Danielle “Smitty” Glascoe of Huntington Beach. He was so proud to walk them down the aisle and gain 2 son-in-law’s, Doug Gulledage and Scott Glascoe.

Ronnie became “Regular” Papa to his four grandchildren: Luke, Malorie, Owen and Julia Glascoe. Wow! If you think he loved his daughters, you should have seen him with his grandkids. He attended countless sporting events on the baseball, soccer and football fields. He really dove into their lives and made a special connection with each one, which will help them get by each day. A day won’t go by where, when a lizard crosses our paths, we won’t think of him and know he is with us.

He spent countless hours sitting and watching his favorite animal shows with his “pretty and pink”. I can’t leave out his “fur” grandchildren: Harley, Roxie and Lexie. We often thought that the doggies would rather stay with Papa than come home with us. He loved them and they knew it.

Ronald was the oldest of five siblings: Barbara Jerome and Husband Bob, Judy Smith, Randy Smith and Timothy Smith.

The viewing will be Tuesday, August 2nd from 4-7 pm at the Luyben Dilday Mortuary, 5161 E. Arbor Road, Long Beach, and the funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 3rd, 10:30 am, at the mortuary followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress.
