Roger Julian Pierce (1979 to 2023)

“If you can remember me, I will always be with you.”

Roger Pierce passed away after a long battle with cancer at the age of 44. Roger was a beloved son. He is survived by his parents Julian Pierce and Karen Pierce, Lakewood, California. Roger has a large extended family, with many Cousins, Aunts & Uncles and Nieces and Nephews. He loved his Nieces and Nephews and had fun making them laugh and spoiling them with presents. His name with the young people was Uncle Rah Rah. He loved that name, and used it everywhere, even as his password. Roger was always the center of attention at family gatherings, and loved to take pictures of family. He had a big smile and a wonderful personality. Roger was active in many areas as a youth. He was a violin player, AYSO Soccer and Basketball player. As a young person, in the Cub Scouts, he earned Cub Scouts highest award, the Arrow of Light.  As a Boy Scout he earned the Boy Scouts highest award, the Rank of Eagle Scout, and an earned 86 Merit Badges in the process. Many of these merit badges become interests that he pursued into adult life. He loved the outdoors and learning all that the scouting program could offer. Roger is a graduate of Lakewood High School.

As a Boy Scout he studied the Fireman Merit Badge and decided he would become a firefighter. He enrolled in the Fireman degree program at Golden West College and trained with the Los Angeles County Fire Department Explorers. Roger’s love of Basketball began before High School, but grew as he played. His favorite team was the L.A. Lakers and then the Golden State Warriors.

He liked to learn as he earned. Roger worked as a parking valet at the Irvine Spectrum. He could identify a car, merely by the sound of the engine, usually make and model, before he could even see the car. Roger worked as a Tilly’s Clothing as a male Model for Newspapers and Magazines.  From a male model he moved into the film industry as a film extra. Roger studied everyone involved on a film shoot, from the cameraman to the sound technician. He would watch them at work and then ask questions about their job, which later helped him in his career as a web designer: commercials, advertising, and aerial drone photography. His next job took him into sales at a bank in the loan department. He found that he was good at talking with people. It was through face to face contact with customers that he found a real need for a web design specialist.  He started a web-design company, on his own, with little knowledge, but he knew he could do it, and he was a fast learner and a great salesman. He was President of this company for 20 years, until his passing.  Roger will be missed.
