Robert John Overzyl

Robert “Bob” John Overzyl, born February 14, 1949, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024 in Long Beach, California.  Bob was predeceased by his father, Cornelius Overzyl, his mother, Mary Johanna Overzyl and his sister, Geralyn Marie Baker.  Bob is survived by his wife, Midori Overzyl, and his sister, Mary Johanna Fazioli.

During Bob’s early childhood, the family lived in Hawthorne, California.  Then, the family moved to Hollydale where Bob spent most of his childhood.  Bob graduated from Pius X high school in 1967 and Loyola University in 1971 from the college of Arts and Sciences with majoring in political science.  He graduated from Loyola Marymount Law school in 1977 and started law practice as a civil litigation attorney.  Bob was employed at Cigna and, hence, Frank, Greenberg and Simone law firm.  Later, he became a solo practitioner until his retirement in 2015.  Bob’s strong value system contributed to serve his clients with great care and warm heart.

Bob was a voracious reader and enjoyed horse racing, fishing, golf and gardening throughout his life.   Bob and Midori enjoyed traveling and visited numerous places in Europe, South America and many states in the US.  Bob was animal lover.  He spent many hours at dog beach and dog park with his beloved dogs.  He also adopted numerous orphan cats and took care of hummingbirds.

He will be greatly missed.  Knowing that he is with his beloved family, friends and animals, brings us peace and comfort.”
