Robert Dean Daugherty Profile Photo

Robert Dean Daugherty, 76, Long Beach, CA, after a long battle with cancer, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in his home with his loving wife by his side.

Bob was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, April 1, 1940. He was a Police Officer for Aberdeen South Dakota Police Department. Bob is also a Veteran of the United States Airforce. He then went on to work as Mechanical Engineer for Los Angeles County, at Harbor UCLA Medical Center.  Bob was a Past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus.

Bob was the most loving husband a wife could ask for. He was always doing for others; and would give the shirt off of his back to help someone in need. He loved a good prank, and teased his wife and grandchildren every chance he had.  Bob loved to read the Sunday comics, loved a good prime rib and a beer to go with it. Most importantly he always had his camera in hand to capture our memories in pictures.

Bob is survived by his wife Bonnie, children, Debra (Keith) Lowe, Bo (Kelly) Black, Jennifer (Alan) Vidal; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister Arleen (Frank) DeWalt, brother Richard (Ellie) Daugherty, brother Russell (Darlene) Daugherty, numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. He will truly be missed.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11am at Luyben Dilday Mortuary. Reception to follow, details to be given privately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fisher House at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Hospital.
