Robert “Bob” Alfred Schierer passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, in Los Alamitos, CA, due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. Bob was predeceased by his father, Alfred Henry Schierer, mother Mary Ellen Holetschek, and brother Gerald Anthony.

Bob was born July 8, 1940, in Chicago, IL, and was the oldest of four children. In 1959, Bob, along with his parents and three siblings, relocated to Southern California, settling in Long Beach, CA. Bob proudly joined the Army in 1962 and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State. It is there where he met his wife, Virginia “Ginger” Lou Skinner, and they were married on October 30, 1965. After leaving the Army, Bob and Ginger moved to Southern California and settled in Lakewood where they would remain for over 50 years.

Bob spent nearly 50 years in the jewelry business, operating his own store, “Schierer & Sydow” in Downey, before moving on to sales for “The Jewelry Doctor” and “Crescent Jewelers” in Long Beach. Bob was a big baseball fan, he continued to watch and cheer on his Chicago Cubs long after moving away from Chicago, and he spent many Sunday afternoons sitting in the left field pavilion watching the Los Angeles Dodgers with his sons. Bob had a passion for jazz and movies, often talking about the many great films he had watched growing up, the legendary jazz artists he had seen perform live, and he spent his retirement years collecting and watching several movies a day.

Bob is survived by his wife Ginger, his four sons, Robert Anton, James Gerald, Phillip Gordon, and Richard Charles, daughters-in-law Cynthia, Patricia, and Michelle, grandchildren Christian Anthony, Lauren Marie, Amelia Lorelei, Dominic Gordon, and Elijah Garcia Clark, great granddaughter Adelaide Marie, his two sisters, Marianne Ida Savitski and Carol Anne English, brother-in-law Robert English, and nephews Jason Dotson and Sean English, along with countless friends.

Bob will be greatly missed.
