Ricky James Kovacs 12/13/64-11/29/16
Rick was born in Cleveland, OH to parents Russell Kovacs and Barbara Kovacs.
He attended and graduated from Kenston High in 1983 then attended the local college. After college Rick joined the Navy and was stationed on USS JOHN A. MOORE. Over his career in the Navy he met some of his closest friends that he always referred to as his brothers. Boy the stories those boys have. Those were some his fondest memories...they formed not just a camaraderie but a true brotherhood. Not only was he lucky to have his brothers in the Navy but he had his best buddies in Ohio that built friendships that lasted a life time. All these guys have been our extended family for many, many years. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he moved back to Ohio for a very short time. In 1990 he returned to California and made it his home. When he returned to California he started dating and swore he was NEVER getting married or having kids. On March 23rd, 1996 he married me, the love of his life and best friend.
We, like any married couple, had ups and downs. At the end of the day, we were soul mates. On January 16, 2001 we welcomed the biggest joy of our lives, Abigail Rose. Rick was head over heals in love, even more than me, imagine that from the guy who wanted no children. Our family was complete.
He was such a loving father and loyal husband. His sense of humor was like none other. We will miss his crazy posts on Facebook. His favorite times were best spent with family. Our Friday night dinners at Super Mex will never be the same. When Rick wasn't with his family his time was spent doing his biggest passion....product design at Snugtop. He worked and became a major player of the Snugtop team. He had many passions, one of his biggest was scuba diving. Under water was his ZEN world. He enjoyed it immensely along with the people he met diving, who quickly became yet more extended family. He also had a passion for Kung Fu San Soo where we met yet more beloved extended family members and earned his 1st degree black belt.
Rick has touched so many lives and we will all miss him beyond words. He is survived by his parents, Russell Kovacs and Barbara Kovacs, his wife Stephanie, daughter Abigail, brothers Ryan and Robert Kovacs, sister-in-law Julie Kovacs and brother-in-law Andy Cremer and wife Grace, Rick Cremer and7 nieces and nephews and so many family members that loved him. His love for his family, friends, extended family and contagious smile will be with us forever.
