Richard Edward Patrick (Dick), 83, of Lakewood California, passed away on January 14 th , 2021.
A memorial service will be held when COVID restrictions will allow.
Richard was born at home in Austinburg, Ohio on December 9 th , 1937. He graduated from Austinburg High School and continued to receive an associate degree from Oklahoma Jr. College.
Richard was married to Sherry Jean Felt on March,15, 1957, and sealed in the Los Angeles temple for time and all eternity on December 9, 1966.They were married 63 years.
Richard worked as a Health and Safety Instructor for multiple companies for over 10 years. He retired from the Navy in 1961 as a Petty Officer First Class Coxswain.
Richard e njoyed ballroom dancing and was an instructor for the Fred Astaire Studios. He also enjoyed roller skating and performing magic for all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His favorite was the “two-coin trick”. He was active in genealogy, serving at the Stake Family History Center and taking photos for family trees. His favorite pastimes included bible study, bluegrass and selling Kangan water.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his religious beliefs were an important part of his life. He served in many callings; Branch President (Pastor) in Ashtabula, Ohio, Elders Quorum President, and a temple worker in the Los Angeles Temple where he was also sealed to his bride.
Richard is survived by his bride Sherry Patrick, sons Brian, Troy, Daniel, Glen, Kelly and foster son Larry, daughters Alicia Wright and foster sisters Rose Henson and Laurie McCune, many loved grandchildren (54) and great grandchildren (63). He is also survived by his brother Robert and (Lois) Patrick, sister Barbara and (Ernest) Scott, and Martha and (Bob)Goddin. He is loved by many family members and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents William Ward Patrick and Wanita Emma Patrick (Proctor), brother Walter Patrick, daughter Teresa Bell, and grandson Erik Patrick.
