Richard Clyde Buck Profile Photo

Richard Clyde Buck, known by all as Rick, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, April 1, 2022 at the age of 55. He was at home surrounded by his family in Lakewood, California when he stepped into heaven and met the Lord he loved.

Rick was born June 30, 1966 in Long Beach, CA. He grew up, went to school and met his wife Michelle in Long Beach. Although he moved away from the area for a short time, he returned and settled in Lakewood, CA where he would buy his current home, raise his sons, Kingston and Sterling, work, and live all his days.

Rick not only lived in the same area for most of his life, but also worked for the same company, Southern California Edison, his whole career. He began working for them as a short-term hire during the summer of 1985 while going to college and hired on with them permanently in 1987. Rick worked in a variety of roles for the company, but what he loved most was being a lineman. He loved climbing poles and the people he worked with. Rick told a good story and some of his best anecdotes were about his different experiences over the years while at work with the people he believed in.

Rick led a full life, and traveled locally and internationally, for fun and for missions trips. He served his church, community, and friends well. He loved Jesus and people. Rick’s favorite place to be was at the beach. He loved everything about the ocean from surfing, to diving, to just sitting on the sand listening to the waves break and watching a sunrise or sunset.

Riding bikes, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors were all a part of who he was. He loved adventure, he loved people and he loved Jesus. Rick was a wonderful husband, a phenomenal dad, a good son and a caring brother. He was a loyal friend who cared, listened and invested in others . He will be missed by many, but most of all by his family.

His greatest legacy is expressed in the beautiful family he left behind … including his wife of 35 years, Michelle Buck, and his two sons Kingston (Linda) Buck and Sterling Buck.  Rick is also survived by his parents Frank and Pat Buck, his sister Sheryl Lynn (Curtis) Johnson, and his nephews.
