The Honorable Richard J. Beacom passed away peacefully on July 27, 2023, in Huntington Beach, CA.

A native of Sioux City, Iowa, he lived his 90 years full of diverse experiences. The range includes work in heavy construction in high school, service in the Marine Corps, and studying international relations abroad before attending law school. He was an outdoorsman – camping, hunting, motorcycling, scuba diving, snow skiing and travel were all adventures he enjoyed with family and friends. Throughout his professional life, he was honored to be of service in the legal career he loved. First, serving as Deputy District Attorney in Los Angeles and Orange County. Then, as a judge. In his many years on the bench, Judge Beacom was twice elected Presiding Judge of the Orange County Superior Court and served at every level of trial and appellate court in California.

He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Beacom, Laura Beacom, and Jennifer Beacom Carey; his grandchildren, Sophia, James, and Patrick; and his brothers, Vincent E. Beacom and Miles Beacom.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent A. Beacom and Anna M. Beacom; sister, Charlotte Morin; and brother, Francis Beacom.

As per his wishes, no services will be held in California. The burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa.
