Rey Carreon San Jose was born January 30,1957 and died unexpectedly on December 30, 2022. His loving wife Margie was at his side at the time.

He is survived by his loving wife Margie, two sons Ryan (Nancy) and Dustin along with his granddaughter Kaila, three brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rey San Jose was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States when he was 13 years old. He lived in Los Angeles, where he attended Virgil Jr. High and Belmont High School. Rey assimilated to his new environment quickly and learned to surf, a hobby that he would keep for decades to come. Rey later learned to scuba dive and obtained his PADI license, he loved exploring the ocean depths. He was also musically inclined. He played the organ and piano and played the drums in his free time. He was in the marching band for a time in Jr. high.

In 1979 he met the love of his life, Margie. The two eventually moved to her hometown of Long Beach where he would live for the rest of his life. They married in 1984 and began raising a family; Ryan was born in 1985 and Dustin in 1990. Rey was a commercial driver for over 30 years. He drove propane trucks in Southern California for the first part of his career and finished his career driving Greyhound buses. His driving career took him across the country and while he didn't like being away from his family, he enjoyed adventure and the people he met. His love for the ocean and nature is something he passed on to his children. He enjoyed fishing, skiing, hiking, and of course surfing.

Rey’s greatest joy was being a grandfather. Rey will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him.
