Reverend Monsignor Douglas William Saunders passed away on March 17, 2017, in Long Beach. CA. Born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on July 18, 1939, He was ordained May 1, 1965. He served at St. John the Baptist in Baldwin Park, taught at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana and then served as Principal of Paraclete High School in Lancaster. He was Associate Pastor at St. Rita’s in Sierra Madre, and Pastor at St. Joseph’s and St. Maria Goretti in Long Beach.
He is survived by his brother Richard W. Saunders, a niece Bridgette Jones and a great nephew Zachary.
Visitation is Monday, March 27, 4-9pm, with a vigil at 7pm. Funeral mass Tuesday, March 28, 11am at St. Maria Goretti in Long Beach. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
