Mrs. Rebeca Patricia Thomson, 77 years old, passed away peacefully in her family home, surrounded by her family, Saturday, June 4, 2022 in the early morning. Rebeca was born in Vina Del Mar, Chile, February 1, 1945, to her mother Basilisa Correa and her father Ceaser Correa. She met her would-be husband, John Arthur (“Tex”) Thomson, a U.S. Merchant Marine, in 1967 in Valparaiso, Chile. Their overseas romance led Rebeca to move to America after two years to wed her beloved John in Bayonne, NJ, July 5, 1969.
Once in America, she had many adventures traveling with her husband John to the following places, San Francisco, Atlantic City, the Panama Canal, Chile, Argentina, Alaska, The Caribbean Islands, California, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii and Europe. They bought their first family home in Mt. Laurel, NJ in 1970. In 1976 they moved to the Caribbean Islands (St. Croix) to live in a 3- bedroom trailer home with a beautiful beach as their backyard while John worked as an engineer. After another career move, they moved back to Cerritos, California in 1979. John and Rebeca moved to Voorhees, NJ in 1986. After a couple of years in NJ, they moved one last time and finally settled down with their three daughters in Long Beach, California in 1988.
Rebeca had a large heart and deeply cared and loved her family. She was strong-willed, fierce and protected and watched over her family always. She was a strong Catholic, a devoted wife, an amazing mom, wonderful, caring and nurturing grand mom (Mom Mom), great Aunt and a devoted friend. She loved to study and work hard. She was an adept learner and loved Real Estate with a passion. She studied hard at nights raising three young girls and began working as a successful real estate agent with several real estate firms such as Walker & Lee and Century 21 until she opened up 2 of her own Real Estate Offices, one in Cerritos, California and the other, Thomson Realty, in Long Beach, California. After years of hard successful work and studying Rebeca earned her Brokers License in the state of California.
Rebeca knew five different languages. She loved shopping, massages, going to the salon, manicures, enjoyed playing the piano, cooking, dining out, traveling and talking with her daughters and her sisters. She loved going everywhere and anywhere with her husband John and she absolutely cherished and loved each and every one of her grandkids. She would wake up in the mornings, cook, clean, tend to her garden outside with roses, mint leaves and plumeria plants, and then before she would go into work and taking care of her amazing garden at home, she would visit each grandchild to make sure they were always safe, secure and happy. She will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
Rebeca was predeceased by her siblings, Elba Correa Bonner, Bernarda, Berta, Alicia, Leela, and Pedro Correa. She is survived by her dearly beloved husband of 53 years, John Arthur Thomson, their three daughters and their husbands, Patricia Ann (Anita) Thomson Graham, Chris Graham, Christine Lee, Christian Lee, Katherine Susan Centanni, Eli Centanni, her 9 grandchildren, Zane Matthew Graham Thomson, John Arthur Xavier (Jax) Christopher Thomson Graham, Johnny Graham, Carissa Graham, Cornelius Otto Lee, Penny Frances Lee, Zuri Rebeca Centanni, Sage Lynn Centanni, Kora Catalina Centanni, her sisters, sisters-in-law and brother-in-laws, Clara Correa, Zemira Onnema, Dominic Onnema, Kathleen Howell, Roberta Thomson, Frank Thomson, and her many dear nieces and nephews in Chile, NJ, Delaware, and California.
