Ralph Joseph Herbert

Ralph Joseph Herbert born in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Walter and Aurelia Herbert, passed away at age 75 on October 22, 2018. Ralph was the brother of the late Roy Thomas Herbert, the late Joan Mary Herbert and Sue Herbert MacAllister. Ralph devoted his life to protect our country and supported the community through philanthropy.
Ralph was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Saint Edward High School in 1961. He then graduated magna cum laude from John Carroll University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a minor in Physics in 1965. After working several years on his thesis, “Multiple Points of Immersed Manifolds,” he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota in 1975.
Ralph retired from The Aerospace Corporation after a 35-year career as an Engineering Specialist working on various projects in the defense industry. During that time, he supported the arts, environment, and the disadvantaged through his philanthropic work.
The wake service will be Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. both at St. Christopher Church, Rocky River, Ohio. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Doctors without Borders USA INC.
