Rajinder “Roger” Johal was born in Jandiala Manjki, Punjab, India on November 20, 1946 and was laid to rest in his home in Long Beach, California on the day after his 72nd birthday on November 21, 2018. He is survived by his wonderful wife, Kathryn Johal, and twin children David Johal and Fay Adams. He also leaves his five grandchildren, Kierin (11), Simrin (9), Sedona (4), Ridgewell (4) and Sevana (2).
His family left India when he was seven years old and relocated to Coventry, England where he grew up working in the family business. He went to Nuneaton College and met his wife in London when he was working in Selfridges department store.
He married in 1973 and had his adored twins in 1978. He worked in various occupations including as a supervisor in the London Underground, milk delivery and driving the famous double decker bus.
In 1981 the family took a dramatic move and relocated to Rancho Cordova, California to forge a new life with greater opportunity. It was a difficult move to make during a struggling economy but Roger persevered and built a solid foundation for his family. Through hard work and determination he moved from school bus driver to transportation supervisor in the school bus transportation industry. There he made many life long friends.
He retired from Center Unified School District in 2006 and he and his wife relocated from Northern California to Long Beach to be near their children and the beach.
His greatest joy in his last years were his grandchildren who he spoiled at every opportunity. The most important thing to Roger was family and he has made such an impression on those he has loved and cared for, his loss is most certainly felt by everyone.
