Peggy Turner was born on February 22, 1949 in Upland, California. She is survived by her daughters Sandee Sapinoso and Loree Turner, her grandsons, Simon Sapinoso and wife Olivia, and Seth Sapinoso, her favorite son-in-law, Edmon Sapinoso and her sister Patricia Coble, as well as, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In the fall of 1971, while working at Kmart, her friend and co-worker set her up on a blind date. His name was Gary and he took her to play pool. On January 22, 1972, in Fullerton, California they were married and honeymooned in Las Vegas where they saw Elvis in concert. They were married for 50 years until Gary’s passing in November 2022.
Peggy left Kmart and took on the hardest job known…housewife and mother. She made our house a home full of love. She was heavily involved and active in her daughters’ lives. She joined the PTA where she met her best friend, Esther Dusek. She volunteered to chaperone field trips and worked in the school’s library. In the summer of 1982, when the company Gary worked for went on strike, Peggy and Esther answered an ad in the newspaper to help open a new store in South Gate. This store was Target. Meant only to be a summer job to get them through the strike, Peggy retired from Target in 2013…31 years later.
Peggy loved being a grandma. Listening to Simon sing and play guitar and cheering on Seth at track meets brought her immense joy. She loved to laugh. There was never a visit or phone call that didn’t end in laughter.
Peggy led a simple life of wife, mom and grandma, but what she did, she did well. She was the best mom. She will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. We are better off for knowing her and being loved by her. We love you.
Peggy, Mom, Grandma
