Paul Lewis Pastusak, 64, graduated to heaven peacefully at his home in Lakewood, CA on September 1, 2023 following a heroic 3 year battle with Mesothelioma.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ellen (Brown) Pastusak, daughter Hayley (Pastusak) White, son Jameson Pastusak, daughter Mallory (Pastusak) Martin, Son in laws Nathan White and Jeremiah Martin and daughter in law, Alexandra Pastuak, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Stella & Willow White and Leon & Lucille Martin.
Paul was born in Long Beach, CA to parents, Joseph & Elizabeth Pastusak on October 21, 1958. He was the baby of 5 children and leaves behind brothers Joseph, Arthur, Thomas and sister, Nancy.
He attended Lakewood High School (class of 1976) where he was a swimmer and celebrated All American waterpolo player.
After high school, he committed his life, following in his father’s footsteps, to running the family business, Pastusak Plumbing, taking over ownership in 1990. Paul was on the apprenticeship board at Local 494 for 15 years. He was proud to have his son, Jameson and son-in-law,
Nathan working alongside him since 2007. The successful family business has done work on many large projects but a highlight for Paul was working on most piers from Monterey to San Diego.
Paul married the love of his life, Ellen, on November 3, 1979 at Los Altos Grace Brethren Church in Long Beach. Hospitality was at the heart of their marriage and they built 2 beautiful homes together in Lakewood. They raised their 3 children in the church and valued Christian education. A dog or two were always a part of the Pastusak home. Paul and Ellen blessed many many families by hosting weddings and events at their beautiful home, enjoyed traveling with friends, and could always be found spending time with their family around the dinner table. In recent years, Paul loved spending time with his grandchildren and was so proud of them.
Paul had many hobbies and passions including UCLA basketball, fishing, golfing, lobster diving, spear fishing and in the past year, especially enjoyed being a member at Virginia Country Club golf course. He and Ellen attended Cottonwood Church and have a strong faith in Jesus Christ. Paul was a part of the helps ministry and enjoyed using his contracting and plumbing knowledge to bless others.
Heaven will never be the same. Thank you Jesus that we will see our favorite guy again some day!
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cottonwood Church in Los Alamitos on October 7, 2023 at 10:30am.
