Paul Lussman

(August 2, 1928 - December 9, 2021)

Co-Owner of the last dairy farm in Long Beach, Paul’s Dairy

Paul Lussman was born to Swiss immigrant parents Paul and Pauline Lussman in Long Beach, Ca. He was born in a ranch house on the Bixby Jotham ranch on the present-day sight of Sherer Park on Orange Ave. Along with his parents and his two older sisters Pauline and Trina, the family re-located to the site of Paul’s Dairy at 6170 Paramount Blvd.  in 1941. Paul spent the next 80 years of his life living at that same location.

In 1954, Paul married his wonderful wife Ann, and they were just six months shy of celebrating their 50 anniversary when she passed away in 2003. The pair are survived by their three children Cathy, Paul III, and John. In addition, Paul has four grandchildren Denise, Victoria, Paul and Jacob and two great grandchildren Olivia and Phoebe. He was a devoted family man who was always very generous with everyone in his family.

After the dairy cows were sold in 1993, Paul retired and entered the second phase of his life. His years of retirement were spent traveling (one of his favorite places to go was Laughlin, Nevada), spending time with family and friends, and enjoying his hobby of wood splitting and selling firewood. Many years of his later life were spent sitting around his favorite pepper tree discussing events with whoever stopped by to visit.

Paul along with his wife Ann were founding members of St. Pancratius Catholic Church in Lakewood. He was always involved in church activities and generously gave of his time and talents. It was through St. Pancratius parish that Paul and Ann met many of their lifelong friends and families. He will always be remembered for his humor, hard work ethic, generosity and joy in which he lived his life.
