Patrick Joseph Farrell, Long Beach local, passed away on his 64th birthday at his home in Long Beach, after a nine year battle with cancer.
Pat was born and raised in Long Beach, where he spent over 37 years dedicated to California State University Long Beach’s Physical Planning and Facilities Management department.
Many knew Pat better as an “Ocean Lover.” Pat was an avid surfer, sailor, and skier who made hundreds of friends where ever he went with great stories of his latest “perfect wave” or his most recent sailboat race win. Pat was also a talented cabinet maker, who thoroughly enjoyed using his old school techniques to create beautiful cabinets and custom kitchens. Most importantly, Pat was known for being an overall amazing guy, the kind that would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation.
Even with all of his talents, Pat’s greatest accomplishment was his family. His wife Elaine, daughters Kristen and Kelli, son-in-law Bobby, grandson Kain, and future son-in-law Kevin were fortunate enough to get to experience Pat’s strength, dedication, work ethic, sense of humor, huge smile, contagious laughter and endless love on a daily basis.
Despite multiple years of cancer and cancer related illness, Pat reminded his family every day to love as hard as you worked, smile through all the struggles, never say goodbye without I love you and to never give up on any dream, no matter how large or far away that dream may seem.
Although Pat was taken from this earth far too soon, the amazing memories and stories his family and friends have will live on forever.
Pat is also survived by his uncle Mike Wythe, sisters Debbie Hinze and Mary Cronin, and brothers Mark Farrell and Joey Farrell.
