"Patrick Joseph Dunne entered into paradise on February 16, 2026 after a 6 month long health battle. He was born October 6, 1963 in Orange, California to Mary “Lou” Ellis and Donald “Don” Dunne. He was the third son of four boys. He grew up in Huntington Beach before his parents divorce, after which he split his time between living with his mom in Fountain Valley and his dad in El Segundo. He grew up playing soccer like his brothers and even went semi-pro before injury forced him into retirement. He made life-long friendships in his youth that remained strong up until his passing. He loved poker, fishing, and bowling as hobbies. On February 15, 1997 he met his wife Karen by chance at a bar in Costa Mesa, they began dating and married a year later. In November of 1998 they welcomed their one and only daughter Mary.

He had many self owned businesses focusing on property management and job placement before eventually becoming a construction soil technician, a job he was passionate about. He was an incredibly hard worker with a strong work ethic. In September of 2025 he came down with a pretty severe case of acute diverticulitis, he underwent surgeries to try to fix the issues but unfortunately kept facing complications and setbacks. He was bounced around 5 different hospitals from late October up until his passing. He was very brave and remained positive through it all. He was making fantastic progress until he developed an infection that he could not recover from. After a week on life support, his family made the incredibly tough decision to let him pass with dignity and not prolong his suffering. He was surrounded by loved ones and had a peaceful transition.

He is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Mary Lou, as well as his three brothers, Kevin, Kelly, and Reagan. He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Mary, nephew Declan, niece Casey, and his great niece and nephew Adelina and Kevin.

In lieu of a large open reception, the family asks that following the service on March 28, that any friends who would like to continue to honor Patrick, please find an Irish pub nearby to gather and have a shot of whiskey or an Irish beer, give him a toast and tell your stories of him to keep his memory alive. Patrick was particularly fond of K.C. Branaghan’s in Long Beach (many an Irish breakfast was enjoyed there)."
