Patricia "Pat" West

Patricia, “Pat”, Morrell West passed away peacefully in her home on July 31, 2023.

Pat was born on September 27, 1927, in Medford Massachusetts, to parents Charles Francis Morrell and Agnes Littlejohn Morrell.

Pat graduated from Boston University, with a degree in Practical Arts and Letters, in 1947.  She married James R. West in 1949, and they had 6 children between 1950-1960.  The family moved to California in 1965.

Pat enjoyed a variety of jobs during her long life.  Most notable were 23 years as an Executive secretary at GTE, and 19 years in the Athletics Department at CSULB.  It was there that Pat’s long love of sports flourished, as she and Jim attended countless sporting events, supporting and cheering on the student athletes and coaches.  She was known as “Grandma Pat” and had a never-ending supply of candy and hugs for all.

Pat is survived by her son Douglas West, and daughters and sons-in-law, Dale and Wayne Brydon, Pam and Taylor Ramsey, Susan and Bill Ferguson, Laurie and Howard Johnson, and Lisa and Richard Noble.  She was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her brother Charles F. Morrell, MD, and her sister-in-law Jane Morrell.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Eldorado Park Golf Course, on August 19, 2023 at 2pm.
