Opal Maxine Farstad was born on December 3, 1917 in Galt, Missouri and passed away on October 18, 2015. She was predeceased in death by her parents Ernest and Mrytle Baker, brother Kenneth Baker and husband Al Farstad. She is survived by her only child Diane, three grandchildren: Mark (Margarete), Jeff (Wendy), Marie (Laura) and eight great-grandchildren: Ashley (Greg), Haley, Kyle, Katelyn, Chase, Maggie, Braxton and Maddox. Before she left her small town in Missouri at the young age of 19, she was crowned homecoming queen at her high school that had a graduating class of only 12. While in California, she met and married the love of her life on October 18, 1941 in Santa Monica. She worked at McDonnell Douglas before giving birth to her daughter Diane and in her later years became a Van de Kamps girl. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her interests included a love for animals (specifically her golden retriever Sasha), casinos, oranges, horse racing, See's Candies, chocolate chip cookies, Kleenex and her gum! Opal's life will be celebrated on Thursday October 22, 2015, 11am at Parkcrest Christian Church, 3936 Woodruff Ave. Long Beach, Ca 90808. Her family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to SPCA LA in her honor. Although Opal will be missed by many, on the day she passed she was reunited with her love on their 74th wedding anniversary.
