Nancy King Daniels Profile Photo

Nancy King Daniels entered into eternal peace on January 10, 2018 at her home in Long Beach, California.

She was born in 1932 to parents Jack and Susan King in Long Beach, CA. She attended the University of Southern California, during which time she married then began raising her family of three beloved children: Craig, Karen and Mark.

Later in life, Nancy attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and earned a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. Her studies brought her to Paris, a city she fell in love with as she learned French, took cooking classes and traveled back to many times over the years.

Nancy’s photography work brought her all around the world, including and especially to locations that were exotic and underexplored at the time. She spent time documenting life in Morocco, Mexico, Japan and China and on Native American Reservations. Her photography was often on exhibit at the Huntington Beach Public Library.

Nancy loved volunteering as a docent at the CSULB Art Museum. She will be remembered for her love of photography and watercolor, her support of museums, her signature sense of style, her avid devotion to reading, her love of classical music and her unparalleled dinner parties. Nancy lived each day with a clear sense of what she wanted out of life. Her strong sense of self and independent creative spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Barbara; brother, John; son, Craig Daniels; daughter, Karen Daniels; son, Mark Daniels (Mary Daniels); grandchildren, Aimee Barrett (Charles Barrett), Amanda Geier (Wesly Geier), Savannah Daniels, Sarah Daniels, Audrey Daniels, Kaley Daniels, Devin Daniels and Quinn Daniels; and great grandchild Julien Barrett. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jack and Susan King.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 3PM at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden on the CSULB Campus. All who feel called are invited to attend and celebrate with the family. They request attendees wear red, Nancy’s favorite color. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CSULB University Art Museum.
