Miriam Devlin was born August 16, 1931 in Dublin, Ireland. She was the 2nd of 9 children to William Tyrrell and Clare (Kelly) Tyrrell. She immigrated to Canada in her twenties, where she met her future husband Peter, and they were married in 1956. Shortly afterwards, the newlyweds joined their brother, Dr. Patrick Devlin in the Long Beach area where they built their business, Devco Medical Industries, and ultimately lived for 6 decades. But Ireland was never far from her heart, and she visited her home country almost yearly.

Miriam was a gifted painter and spent many hours creating lovely water color renditions of places she visited. A life-long lover of books, Miriam was known for weekly trips to the local library, leaving with up to 5 books at a time! Miriam passed away on June 19th after a very short illness. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her older sister Rebecca Halion and brothers Billy and Brian Tyrrell, and best friends Bridget Naughton, Msgr Desmond Quinn, and Don Kiikka. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Peter, daughter Dina Polkinghorne and her husband Ori and grandchildren Quinn and Olivia Polkinghorne, her daughter Mandy, her sisters Jeanne Cahill, Ann Drumgoole, and Jackie Tyrrell, brothers Pat and Paul Tyrrell, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at St Bartholomew Catholic Church in Long Beach at 11 am on Saturday, June 24th. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in her memory.

We love you Miriam. There truly was no sweeter soul on earth. Your memory will be forever present in our hearts until we meet again.
