Michael “Mike” Hudson passed peacefully from natural causes, in his second home in Bullhead City, Arizona, on the morning of April 12, 2022, at 73 years of age. Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Vicky Hudson, who currently resides in their first home in Long Beach. He has left behind his daughter Brandie and her two sons, Esaia and Kaelon, and his stepchildren Eden and her son Joshua, Vincent [Rowena], and Jude [Brenda] with Saira. In addition, he is survived by an older sister Lynne and younger brother Eddie [Cheri], along with nieces and nephews. Mike was born to Edwin and Mary Hudson in Pennsylvania, on August, 3, 1948. Due to his father Edwin’s career in the navy, the family relocated to San Pedro, CA. There, he lived close to the ocean. As a teenager, he worked on commercial fishing boats out of San Pedro Harbor. It was there that he cultivated his love of fishing and love of the ocean. At 18 years old, Mike was drafted into the army. He was very proud of the time he spent in the army. There, he received the Army Commendation Medal of “V” for heroism in Vietnam. While under enemy fire, Mike courageously positioned the army vehicle into several hostile positions in order to ultimately aid in terminating the enemy attack. Mike was a forever patriotic veteran. After his time in the army, Mike worked with his best friend, Scott, at Hamilton Standard in Long Beach. For twenty plus years, he refurbished propellers and other parts of helicopters and planes, until his retirement. Subsequently, Mike decided to go back to work at the San Pedro fishing docks at 22nd St. Landing, again with his best friend Scott and his brother in law, Frank. Then retiring again, Mike and his wife, Vicky, who were always connected at the hip, lived between their Long Beach house and their Bullhead City residence to be close to the Colorado River, where he loved to spend his leisure time. Mike grew up on the water, and he will return to the water for his burial at sea. Mike was a man of great faith, who attended church regularly. He spent many days traveling around the world with his wife Vicky, chatting it up with close friends, and connecting with his baby brother Eddie. Mike loved music, and enjoyed singing Karaoke with his family. He was very playful, always smiling, laughing, and joking, for he lit up a room. His memorial service will take place at 1030am on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at St. Cornelius Catholic Church (5500 East Wardlow Road, Long Beach, CA 90808) with a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Michael Hudson’s name to St. Cornelius Church. Please make your checks out directly to St. Cornelius Church. There will be a donation box located on a table inside the reception hall. Luyben Dilday Mortuary (562) 425-6401
