Michael Rene Aviles

On Saturday September 23, 2017 in Covina, California, the world suddenly lost a man that impacted lives all across the United States. Mr. Michael Rene Aviles “Mike” was born on October 26, 1970 to George Aviles and Hilda Quintana at White Memorial in Los Angeles, California. The Lord washed Michael in the waters of baptism at 3 months old at Sacred Hearts Church in Lincoln Heights, California. Mike met his best friend, Edward Garcia, at the age of 8 in the second grade at Saint Maria Goretti Elementary were they established an inseparable bond of brotherhood. In 1982 at the age of thirteen years old, the love of his life, Robbyn Aviles, and Mike laid the foundation of friendship that turned into a life of adoration and devotion. They wed twelve years later, on January 28, 1995, continuing a journey together walking hand in hand displaying their caring love to all who knew them.

Throughout his 46 years he displayed loyalty, selflessness, and joy to family, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. He leaves to cherish his memory four children; Aaron Aviles, Alina Aviles, Alexus Aviles, and Ashtyn Aviles. Mike’s children were the joy of his life. Busy Saturday mornings that involved cheering for or coaching any or all of the kid’s sports games near and far and slow Sunday mornings that included Mexican brunch combined with family pajama movie parties were what he lived for. His generosity was projected into the happiness he felt when he opened his home for parties and get-togethers to all family and friends welcoming them with open arms and a shot of Patron.

Mike brought his loyalty, selflessness, and joy to the 26 years working in the gas industry, primarily for Praxair. Co-workers, customers, and bosses all felt the impact he made leaving a lasting impression and building the name of Praxair. He recently began providing oxygen for the Chargers football team which combined his loyalty to work and his favorite hobby. Mike was a loyal Raiders football fan since a child proudly wearing his Raider’s shirts, attending Raiders games from Oakland to Nashville, and displaying plaques around the house whether they were making it through a rough season or on top of their game.

He is survived by his mother; Hilda Quintana, two sisters; Carmen Sandoval and Elizabeth Gallegly, brother; George Aviles, wife; Robbyn Aviles, four children, and endless family and friends. Mike’s loving gentle nature will be missed for decades to come. Those who have lost their dear friend Mike will find comfort in the promise that Jesus Christ lay down His life for us so that we may have everlasting life. The life of Mike will continue to live and thrive through those who loved him and will shine brightly with their memories of him.
