Our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Maxine Mary Faciane, passed away peacefully at home March 23, 2024. She was born July 21, 1940 in Slidell, Louisana to Hilda and Ralph Cooper. Her loving husband Louis and brother Ralph (Buddy) preceded her in death. Maxine is survived by her four sons, Mario (Lori), Kevin (Robbi), Dwayne (Michelle),Troy (Lynn), her six grandchildren, Alex, Michael, Nick, Angie, Emma, Dominic, and her three sisters, Phyllis, Jeanie, and Kathy.
She left Louisana at the age of eighteen to start a life in the Los Angeles area where she and Louis started their family. Her life revolved around her boys and extended family. She was always there to support her boys in sports, scouts, school, and in reaching their dreams.
Maxine worked 35 years for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She initially took the job at her boys' grade school to be on the same schedule as her children. However, it turned out to be a very rewarding career for her where she made numerous lifelong friendships and lasting impacts on many children over the years.
She loved going to church on Sunday mornings and attending all of the events held at St Cyprian’s where she felt so comfortable in the wonderful community there. She will be missed for the bright yellow outfits she loved to wear and her sense of humor as she held court at the weekly breakfast outings or the many church and family events in which she participated.
Friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Maxine at St Cyprian Catholic Church on April 11th. Viewing and Rosary will begin at 10:00am and the Funeral Mass at 10:30am. The family will have a private burial service April 12th.
