Matilda Anne Burke was born November 30, 1927, in San Pedro, California. She passed away peacefully at her home in Long Beach, California, on June 3, 2018.
She led a full and blessed life. She attended Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. While attending school she was introduced to Daniel Paul Burke. They hit it off and were married on August 23, 1952.
She thoroughly enjoyed working for (26 years!) and being an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Long Beach, California.
She relished spending time at the beach, was an avid reader, a superb cook, and savored barbequing with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna; brother, George; two sons, Thomas Patrick (Debbie Burke) and Paul Joseph (Laura Burke). In addition to her husband, Daniel Paul, she is survived by one brother, Anthony; two sisters, Irma and Jean, her five children, Timothy, Kathleen, John, Daniel, and Mark; her 16 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be fondly remembered and forever missed.
The visitation will begin Friday, June 8, 2018 at 5:00 PM with a rosary to follow at 7:00 PM at Luyben Dilday Mortuary. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church. Interment will follow at All Souls Catholic Cemetery.
