It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Lee Wible Sheppard on Sept. 25, 2018 as a result of her struggle with Parkinson’s Disease at her home with her family by her side. Mary Lee was born to LeRoy & Mary (Carney) Wible in Pittsburgh, PA on 12/03/36. Due to her father’s career as a Naval Doctor, Mary lived in various locations in her youth but it was the stationing in Japan in the early 50s that changed her life forever. There she met the love of her life David Craig Sheppard on a bus to Yokohama High. Upon return to the U.S., Mary’s family settled in the Sunset Cliffs area of San Diego and she attended USD Catholic University and completed her B.A. in 3 years so she could marry David ASAP. They married on 12/28/57 and eventually bought their dream home in the Garden Park area of Garden Grove where they raised their 3 children (Kim, David & Ian). Mary was a special education teacher with Bellflower Unified School District from 1959 to 1995. During her tenure there she became one of their first Preschool SDC teachers. In retirement she taught religious education at St Hedwig and delivered “Meals on Wheels” to the homebound. She lived her life knowing everlasting life after death would be her heavenly reward. She is survived by her husband of 61 years David, daughter Kim (Eric) Kiser, sons David (Tracy) Sheppard and Ian (Kim) Sheppard, grandchildren: Ryan (Mandy) Stack, Joseph (Wynter) Stack, Kyle (Patti) Stack, David (Kim) Sheppard, Zachery, Nathan, Corrin, Chad and Mary Kate Sheppard. And great grandchildren: Ellie, Shayne & Bodhi Stack and Madeline Sheppard. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends but we rest assured we’ll be reunited again with her in heaven. Rosary is 10/18 at 7pm and funeral Mass 10/19 at 11:00 both at St Cyprian Catholic Church. In Lieu of flowers consider donations to Hospice or Meals on Wheels.
