Mary Poissant, age 66 passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at Los Alamitos Hospital in Los Alamitos, California.  Her beloved husband, Dan, was right by her side holding her hand when she passed.

She was born on August 7, 1960, in Lynwood, California, at Saint Francis Hospital, the beloved daughter of the late Angelo and Adelina Cassiadoro.  She was also preceded in death  by her gentle and dear brother John Cassiadoro.

Mary was passionate , warm, and exceptionally kind.  Her laughter was contagious, bringing light and joy to everyone around her. She dedicated her life entirely to her loving family and was a truly a fantastic and wonderful mother and wife.

After being diagnosed with cancer, Mary fought bravely with unwavering courage and grace.  Throughout her journey, she remained a pillar of strength, facing each day with an enduring spirit that deeply inspired everyone who knew and loved her.  Her resilience and dignity during her battle will forever remain a testament to the remarkable woman she was.

Mary had a deep love for life and filled her days with things that brought her and others joy.  She loved traveling, camping, reading, attending Bible Study, gathering with her family and sharing laughter with her friends. She was an expert genealogist who loved to trace hers and others family histories. She really had an uncanny skill to solve lineage mysteries and odd historical or genetic records. She specialized in Italian foreign records, deciphering old handwriting, and navigating local and remote archives.  However, Mary's true passion was sewing.  She devoted an entire room in her home to her beloved hobby.  Alongside her dear friend Nancy, and with the helpful hands of Diane, Mary spent every Monday for over a dozen years creating beautiful quilts, small children clothes, and comforting lap blankets.  Together, they generously donated most of their creations to the underprivileged and to those in the hospital, leaving a legacy of warmth and comfort in the community.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Dan Poissant, her loving daughter, Diane Poissant, and her loving son, Nico Poissant.  Her daughter Diane, who is a living cancer survivor, wants everyone to know that she loves her mommy deeply and appreciates all the work and profound devotion Mary gave her while Diane fought for her own life during her battle with brain cancer.

Mary is also survived by her caring Brothers, Frank Cassiadoro and Romi Cassiadoro. In addition, Mary is fondly remembered and missed deeply by her long time friend, and laughing partner, Mary Liner, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews spread across the United States, Canada and parent's hometowns in Italy.  Mary's warmth, kindness, and love will be profoundly missed by her family, friends and all those whose live she touched.
