Beloved Mary Lee Novotny, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2022. She was born February 15, 1945, to Robert Wooddall and Janet Murray Wooddall, in Hollywood, FL, and was a 48-year resident of Long Beach, CA. She is survived by her loving husband, Gene Novotny, who she has been married to for 48 years, her cherished children and daughters-in-law, Brian and Emily, and Scott and Sandy, along with her grandchildren Max, Cade, Gracie, and Ethan who lovingly called her Nana. In addition, Lee is also survived by her wonderful sisters and brothers-in-law, Jinny and David, Patricia and Curtis, Theresa and Ron, and Jane and David.

Lee graduated from Roanoke Catholic High School in Roanoke, VA. After high school, she attended Sacred Heart College in Belmont, NC, and then graduated from Radford University in Radford, VA in dietetics.  She interned at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and became a registered dietitian.

After moving to Southern California around 1969, Lee started her own consulting business. After she retired, Lee was very active for over 20 years in the Meals on Wheels program. Further, she was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Long Beach, CA.

Lee went to her eternal home after a courageous battle with dementia that began in 2016. Lee will long be remembered for her kindness, compassion, empathy, and generosity toward others. Her love and support for others will be deeply missed. Her death is an immense loss and void in the lives of those who love her the most.

The memorial services will be held at Luyben Dilday Mortuary, located at 5161 E. Arbor Road, Long Beach, on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. This will be followed by a celebration of life held at Old Ranch Country Club located at 3901 Lampson Avenue, Seal Beach.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity, The Dementia Society of America, or The Alzheimer’s Foundation. Lee will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched during her lifetime.
