Marjorie Joyce Galvin Jimenez, 1929-2021
Our adored mother, Marjorie Jimenez, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Long Beach, California on Friday, October 22, 2021.
Marjorie “Bridgie" was born on the 9th of January 1929 to Margaret Ellen and John Francis Galvin in Great Falls, Montana. Marjorie was their seventh daughter and eighth child. She grew up on the West Side of Great Falls and was a member of. St. Joseph’s Church. She attended Franklin Elementary and Great Falls High School. She married the love of her life, Rudolph “Jim” Jimenez in 1949. They both worked hard to support their family of six children. She was a waitress at the Park Hotel on Central Ave. where she shared her smile and good attitude with everyone she came in contact with. Together they built their home at 512 1st Ave. S.W in Great Falls. She was known for her athletic ability, gardening skills and sense of humor. She was always there to support her children on their swim teams. The family moved to California in 1967 for Jim to attend Cerritos College and become a Certified Orthotist. She loved having her whole family over for spaghetti dinners and everyone playing in the backyard swimming pool. At 66 years old she ran a 5K race in San Diego with her children and grandchildren.
Marjorie’s husband Jim passed away shortly after their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1999. Their little granddaughter Rachel predeceased her in 1998 and their treasured daughter Margaret (Ron) Madeen passed away in 2015. She is survived by five of her six children, Maureen (Rex) Rawlinson, West Hills, CA, James (Angeles) Jimenez, Murrieta, CA, John (Pam) Jimenez, Simi Valley, CA, Ernest Jimenez, West Hills, CA, Bridger (Karen) Jimenez, Long Beach, CA.
Her 14 surviving grandchildren are Paul Madeen, Erik (Leslie) Madeen, Justin (Melissa) Rawlins, Neil (Heidi) Rawlinson, Ian Rawlinson, Seumas Rawlinson, Cameron Rawlinson, Sean (Lily) Jimenez, Stephen (Sally) Jimenez, John (Liyan) Jimenez, Kristina Skinner, Michael (Candice) Jimenez, Brenden (Tia) Jimenez, and Bridger Jr. Jimenez.
Her 23 great grandchildren are, Helen and Henry Madeen, Marguerite, Lillian, Lucas and Austen Madeen; Isabel, Asher Rose, Santiago and Marisol Rawlins; Lilia, Keeva, Elowyn, and Luke Rawlinson; James, Padraig, Eoin, Eamonn and Aodhan Jimenez; Kody San Martin and Rogue Skinner; Nolan & Louis Jimenez.
Marjorie was the last surviving child of the Galvin Family. Her sisters were Frances Gleason, Ruth Butler, Helen O’Connell, Hazel Mauch, Connie Golightly, Audrey Cefro and brother Pat Galvin.
