Mario Enrico Passanisi, 54, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in his home in Santa Barbara, California. Born on Father’s Day, June 20, 1971, Mario lived a life marked by generosity, curiosity, and an uncommon joy that lifted the people around him.
Mario was a lifelong learner with a deep devotion to family, friends, and neighbors. He loved sports and games, and time spent with him was almost always accompanied by laughter. He had a natural ease with people and a gift for making others feel comfortable and included. His presence had a way of changing the mood of a room.
He was energetic, engaged, and always in motion. Mario enjoyed figuring things out and was often the person others relied on to fix a problem, organize a space, or help make sense of something unfamiliar. He approached life with curiosity and enthusiasm, seeing everyday tasks not as burdens but as opportunities to be useful.
Mario was kind and giving in quiet, steady ways. He helped neighbors, checked in on friends, and showed up for people without expecting anything in return. He spoke kindly of others and carried himself with humility and grace. His generosity was not performative—it was simply part of how he lived.
Mario is survived by his parents, John and Liana Passanisi; his sisters, Liana Waga and Marisa Passanisi; and his brother, Vincent Passanisi. He was a devoted uncle, and his nieces and nephews will deeply miss his exuberance, warmth, and affection.
He will be remembered for the joy he brought to everyday moments, the care he gave so freely, and the way he made life a little lighter simply by being part of it.
