Margaret Mary Mccorkle

Margaret Mary McCorkle went home to the Lord on Sunday, August 29, 2021. She is survived by two loving sons, Yosef and Sami, and her devoted daughter, Mona.

Margaret was born on May 4, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to a young Howard and June McCorkle. The second eldest of ten children, she grew up in Long Beach, CA. She graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in 1965, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English from Dominican College in San Rafael, CA.

Margaret was an avid reader, and shared her love of literature with her children through frequent library visits together. She was consistently open-minded, exceedingly giving and incredibly intelligent. She loved cats, coffee and could always complete even the most intensive crossword puzzles.

She is a world traveler, having toured through Europe and the Middle East. Margaret was a woman ahead of her time and she adopted the culture of her kids with grace and respect to fully support their development. She expertly cooked Egyptian food, had an enviable closet of galabeyas and did insane amounts of reading on Middle Eastern history.

Margaret had a keen eye for crystal dishes, was a veteran thrifter and could outshop anyone when it came to jewelry! She always listened, said thank you and had good cheer to share with everyone. More than anything she was resilient, empathetic beyond compare and went into all things with an open heart. You were my best friend mom, and I love you more than anything. I can’t wait to see you again. <3
