Margaret Agatha Evans

Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) Agatha Evans passed away peacefully Friday morning June, 25th 2021 at the age of 95 in Lakewood ,CA. She was born October 5th, 1925 in Reserve Mines just outside Glace Bay on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia to George and Margaret Gallant, an elder of six children 3 boys and 3 girls. She married William James Evans in August of 1952 in Nova Scotia while they both worked for the Dominion Coal Co. She and her husband Bill moved to California in 1955 where they lived in Lynwood where they raised their son William J. Evans jr. (b.feb.7,1961) and eventually moved to Lakewood in 1972 where they put down roots and became active members of their church and community. Peggy worked in accounting for J.C Penney for 25 years before retiring. She loved to spend time with her friends especially when playing bingo and cards. She loved her family and would do anything for them. She took in and raised her young grandson Elic after the passing of his mother and played a major part in his life. She was an amazing person with a strong will and a big heart, everyone who met her loved her. She will be missed.

Beloved Grandmother and Aunt she is survived by William Elic Evans(grandson) Gregg Gallant(nephew) Phil Macdonald(nephew) Sandy Evans(niece) and extended family. Predeceased by Elic Evans(son); William J. Evans Sr.(husband); William J. Evans Jr.(son).

There will be a mass celebrating her life at St. Maria Goretti Church Friday July 23rd. 11a.m. 3950 Palo Verde Ave, Long Beach, CA 90808
