In Loving Memory of Manuel Ybarra April 3, 1946 – May 10, 2026

Manuel Ybarra, a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in Long Beach, California. He was born on April 3, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, to Mary Lou Villegas.

Manuel grew up in Pico Rivera, where he attended El Rancho High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, demonstrating the same sense of duty and commitment that would define his life.

At the center of Manuel’s world was his family. He met the love of his life, Jeanette Ybarra, and they were married on July 12, 1969, at St. Cornelius. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, partnership, and unwavering devotion, sharing nearly 57 years of marriage. Manuel was a proud father to his daughters, Nicole Lumina Ybarra and Tanzi Bickler, and a loving father-in-law to Rich Bickler. His family was his greatest joy, and he lived each day for them.

Manuel will be remembered for his warm heart, easygoing nature, and the genuine way he connected with everyone he met. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, forming friendships with ease, and always being there when someone needed him. His kindness, compassion, humor, and steadfast loyalty left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He had a passion for life’s simple joys and the things he loved most. A dedicated sports fan, Manuel was a die-hard supporter of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Raiders, and USC Trojans. He loved attending games and sharing those moments with family and friends. He was also an avid collector, known for his impressive collection of bobbleheads, autographs, and sports cards—a collection that filled his home and reflected years of cherished memories.

Manuel especially loved tailgating and game days with his best friend, Horace Salazar. Together, they shared unforgettable moments and friendships that became part of his story. He also had a deep love for music, especially his “oldies but goodies,” and found joy in playing his vinyl record collection.

Above all, Manuel was a man of deep love and loyalty—a person who showed up, stood by those he cared for, and created a lifetime of memories with his family and friends.

The loss of our beloved Manuel leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will live on forever.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
