Manuel "Manny" Quinteros Profile Photo

Manuel Quinteros, resident of Anaheim, went to heaven to be with his wife Mary Sue on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Manuel or as many knew him, Manny was 97. Born September 24, 1919, in Los Angeles to Sylvia Garcia and Manuel Quinteros. He was the oldest of 5 children. Manny worked several different jobs to help support his mother and siblings. From dishwasher to cook and even drove a truck to deliver potatoes. Manny joined the Army in 1941. He was a proud member of the 559th Air Service Group and a World War II Veteran. Prior to enlisting, Manny attended an American Legion dance, where he met his future wife Mary Sue. In 1999 the Montebello Post 272 honored him as the Legionnaire of the Year. He was also a lifetime member at Post 272. After serving our country Manny became a chef at several restaurants in the Los Angeles area. But as Manny would say “one of the smartest moves I ever made was becoming a cook for the Los Angeles Unified School District.” He worked for LAUSD for 18 years. He is survived by daughters Mary Evelyn Davies and her husband John Davies, Jacinta “Georgie” Saiza and her husband Ruddfo “Rudy” Saiza, granddaughters Anita Smith and husband Steve Smith, Vikki Porter, Michelle Paz and husband Jose Paz and Karen Saiza; grandson, John Saiza and wife Lorraine Saiza as well as 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, Tata and friend to many. He enjoyed eating his dessert first, watching the Lakers and telling stories about his time in the Army and about the Los Angeles area. He was loved by many and will be deeply and truly missed.
